Divine Confidence in Times of Oppression
You have control over your ability to thrive, regardless of politics and economics.
Don't believe anyone who tells you otherwise.
You are sovereign, you have the power of the universe at your fingertips and you will always find a way, no matter what.
This hit me hard when, just last month, Texas passed the "heartbeat bill" one of the strictest anti-abortion measures in the country.
Growing up in Massachusetts, I always had control over my body and my reproductive rights. We had sex education in high school, contraceptives were always encouraged and Planned Parenthood is seen as a health clinic, a safe place where many women and families turn for anything related to reproductive health.
It's a shock to me that here, in my new home, all of those rights would be taken from me.
Not only that, there is a rhetoric of shame that gets thrown onto women who choose to even speak up about abortion rights. Which is why this woman is my new shero.
But this post is not about abortion or politics (but if you want to read where I stand, here it is).
I actually respect that people had different opinions on the matter, I think that most of the violence and vitriol in the world has to do with people not being able to sit in the space of compassionate disagreement. If that were to happen, I think most folks would find themselves somewhere in the middle.
However, the fact that other people's politics and religious beliefs have a direct affect on my body and general rights as a citizen is crazy to me. ESPESCIALLY in a state like Texas which is all about "yee-haw, carry guns, defend your home, do your own thang!"
I was very upset.
It got me thinking how even in The People's Republic of China, a country where human rights are not its strongest attribute, does such a good job protecting mothers.
Women get a year in paid maternity leave AND their jobs are guaranteed when they are ready to return to the workforce. They're granted free healthcare and education.
Here, there are no such resources and when women are forced to have children, sometimes without a father in the picture. This means mothers are directly set on a path of poverty because this country does not give mothers the resources needed to raise healthy children and keep meaningful work.
I'm saying this as an example of how our society extends oppressive laws that control and disempower a certain population.
In this case I'm part of that population and, while it may be very convincing for me to think that I have lost authority over my lifestyle, my body and my health, it's really not true.
Don't get me wrong, I don't live in any illusion that we are not living in the shadows of "the patriarchy." There are institutions that actively fight against women and minorities having equal pay and equal rights.
You could be pro-life or pro-choice and the layers of privilege stacked against you are the same.
Our society is structured for domination and control...and if you internalize the lie that any external authority has power over you, you’ve lost.
There is an energy of oppression that we unconsciously buy into every day.
And, in the moments that we believe that they have control (when really they are terrified of our power) they win.
In the moments when we realize that we always have agency and authority over our own thoughts, energy, and lives, we gain our power back.
The moment I remembered I am a Divine being,
and that I am made of the energy that creates worlds, and that nothing is impossible when I am in my genius flow, then I relax.
I remember who I am.
I remember this is a game.
This reality is a reflection of my inner reality.
And nobody controls it if I am fully present in my life and in my body.
The external world would have me believe there are only limited options available for me.
But I know there are infinite.
And if there is ever a moment when I need help or a miracle, it's there for me.
It's always been that way.
And the more I embrace this powerful aspect of my being, the more it happens.
It is my norm.
When your desires are backed up by Divine, God-level confidence, that is when your reality is immovable. Because you are functioning at a different level than 99% of the people around you. They take orders from what's going on in the world. They react to the world.
Even I've had my victim moments.
I said, "I can't believe I moved to this state where they don't care about women's rights."
The point is we all create our own reality, which means we create the opportunities that come to us when we need it.
It means we create the resources that we connect with when we're not in a state of victimhood.
We create our inner state and responses to the world that allows us access to infinite resources.
Your livelihood does not depend on the government—it doesn't even depend on your clients. Your livelihood doesn't depend on anything external to you.
I could close my business right now and decide to not take a single client anymore, but within me lives the will to thrive because I know I deserve it.
I am the creator of my own reality and I know another opportunity will come my way.
Money will come to me.
I activate my own divine resources.
It's me creating my own reality, knowing for damn sure it's not dependent on anything outside of myself.
That is your right and your power, too.
That's how I want us all to live in this world.
You activating Creator Energy is the only way to live.
That's why I'm still here in Texas despite all odds. There are still great and beautiful things here and people are kind and lovely.
No matter the part of the world you're in, the socioeconomic or political system you're living with, you still have power.
You still have power because you are a Divine being.
You have an inner knowing of truth.
You have the energy of the world and your spiritual guides and your higher self on your side.
You are more powerful than you know and that's why institutions are scared of us and seek to control us.
Your attention and belief system is the most sought after thing of all.
