A miracle has finally happened!

Well, at least according to my parents.

...Anna's finally married!

We did a small ceremony in our backyard Thanksgiving weekend with our immediate family and everyone was in tears, see?

I was never one of those brides who dreamed of getting married as a little girl and having a big wedding.

Actually, now that I think about it, the earliest memory I have of remotely entertaining the idea of a wedding was when I was a teenager.

I was on a high school trip and we were in an art museum. I remember looking at a Francisco de Goya painting where he depicted peasants dancing in the countryside and there was a man holding a basket of what looked to be croissants.

Wow, what an awesome, simple life! I thought.

I could marry a baker and for our wedding, the village would get together and contribute their gifts. The florist would bring flowers, the candlemaker would bring candles and the farmers would bring food.

That would be heaven!

Well, fast forward a couple of decades and funny enough, our wedding ended up being a co-creation of a small village.
