Uncertainty of Safety (S1E2)

For many of us, this may be the very first time we’ve ever had to live with uncertainty of safety. 

The commonality of experience with quarantine and the global pandemic has placed us all in the same uncertainty of safety - we can no longer know for sure that our loved ones will be safe or that we ourselves will be safe. 

For many others, uncertainty of safety is a daily reality because of the color of their skin. Breonna Taylor was relaxing in her own home when police stormed in and shot her. Here in Texas, hard working Mexican families live in fear that, any day, they could be deported and never see their loved ones again. 

This common experience brought on by Covid-19 has given us a small taste of what many minorities have been living with for generations and it opened the way for the current Black Lives Matter movement, and LGBTQ rights and DACA.

But what are we supposed to do with all the little scraps of feelings we have - the fear, pain, frustration, anger, sadness, and shame?

The world is going through a radical change and this period of time is bringing up a lot of feelings for us all. Do we allow them to consume us and spill over in hurtful and harmful ways or do we choose to transmute them into healing? 

The choice is ours.

Transmutation exercise:

Take some deep breaths and allow your guard to drop, relax 

You may notice some feelings coming up, welcome them, breathe through them

Bring up the deeper feelings triggered by images in the media or difficult conversation

Imagine gathering all these precious scraps of feelings at the top of your head and allow them to wash over you

Find a place in your heart center that is connected to a bigger resource (God, divine intelligence)

Breathe into your heartspace and allow the furnace of your heart to ignite

This is the fire of love

Allow these little rough pieces of painful feelings flow through your heart furnace

As these feelings move through your heartspace, feel them transform into love

Now, bring that healing flame through your body, out through the top of your head

And send the healing flame where it needs to go.

Know that you always have the ability to heal.

Know that your healing heals the world.
