Energy Is More Important Than Planning

Your goals are energetically messed up. There, I said it.

Most people don’t realize that their goal setting is inherently disempowering. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good planning session and I used to absolutely revel in goal setting and strategy, I would come equipped with 3 different notebooks, highlighters, stickers and different sizes of personal calendars.

It was fun and exciting to envision the year ahead and all the new clients, new revenue and new resolutions. It felt so satisfying to break down the revenue goal into quarterly goals and then into monthly and weekly action items.

Oh wow and if I just doubled my outreach, I could exponentially increase my income! I would think as I plugged numbers into an arbitrary excel spreadsheet.

But deep inside, I knew I wouldn’t follow through with the extensive items in this annual strategy.

I loved the planning aspect but the doing aspect always felt uninspired, and contrived.

Now I know why.

The energetics are way off.

Our approach to planning and strategy is almost purely a mental exercise so it’s not only completely disembodied (an essential component in manifestation), it’s actually disempowering as well.

Most of us are taught to start with our desired revenue for the upcoming year and then list the actions it will take to achieve the leads to create this revenue.

Let’s say I want to make $300,000 revenue in my coaching business. That means I need to aim to bring in $25,000 each month and that may mean I need to generate 1,000 leads a month in order to get a 10% conversion of people purchasing a $2,500 program. So, either I pay lots of money for these leads or spend my days posting and marketing and taking actions that are not only not in my realm of genius but that probably also drain my mental willpower.

If you look at the energetic structure of this business plan, it communicates this to the universe: Money is something I desire, it’s something that is bigger and more powerful than me, so I am going to agree to do an elaborate song and dance in order to earn the money that I desire.

Not to mention the shocking reality that most intuitive and creative people are not motivated by money. So then, why are we making all these plans based on something that is inherently dis-motivating?

This creates an unbalanced power dynamic in our businesses throughout the year.

I mean, who wants to do 40+ outreaches a week and also write articles, create 1 podcast, and post on social media 3x every 10 days?

But we are told that this is how we generate leads and this is what it means to be a successful business owner right?

No, this is the old paradigm of trading time for dollars, hoping that all your hard work will bring you the opportunities you crave–all the while, you are sending the energetic frequency to the universe that you are willing to do things that you hate doing, in order to make money.

This will not only burn you out but will also attract plenty of opportunities to do many other things that you don’t want to do in order to make a little bit of money.

Energetically, you are showing that you are a servant of money, rather than the creator of money.

You are not fully owning your power and have unnaturally set your presence as artificially subservient to money.

This is something that your subconscious is aware of and this is the reason why many people have adverse reactions to money goals. Mainly, that they feel burdened or uninspired by them.

Not to mention that, when you plan too much you may inadvertently create a structure that is too rigid to allow room for inspiration and magic.

What if, rather than energetically setting yourself up to be a servant to money next year, you committed to an abundant partnership with your Higher Self instead?

Rather than having an extensive plan of action items that you hate, why not lean into your genius and craft activities that are interesting to you and that allow you to come from a place of prosperity?

The key is…

You MUST first come from a place of abundance.

If you are doing things for money that don’t inspire you or that don’t feel energetically aligned, you are likely coming from a place of lack.

SO, why not come from a place of abundance…

Imagine if you already had the business of your dreams, what would you be doing?

Let’s say you had all the money you needed to thrive, what would your business look like then?

How can you do marketing in a FUN and enjoyable way?

If you had everything you desired and you could be incredibly generous, what would you give away? What would you offer more of?

If you weren’t afraid of failing, what would you love to do? What risks would be exciting to you?

Take a moment to answer these questions and you will find that a different version of your original plan will emerge. More importantly, you will find a different version of yourself will emerge–and this is the same energy as your higher self!

Now, the question for you is: will you be bold and lead with abundance?
